Letters From The Heart

My Dearest Ruby Girl,
Today I was reading over the visiting teaching lesson for this month and it was about the joys of family history. I pulled out a "book of remembrance" that I had to do as an assignment for a family history class some time ago. I made this book 3 weeks after I married your Dad. Little did I know we would have you join our family so quickly! I was pregnant 9 months later.

As I was thinking about family history, I realized I needed to record some of our own family history, since I am so horrible at writing in a journal. I decided that I would try and write you letters. Your great Nanna wrote some at Christmas time and it is fun for me to go back and read those. How often will I write? I have no idea. But I am shooting for once a year, that way I will feel great when I get a couple letters in one year! :)

Today is June 9th, 2013. You are 8 months old already. Time is flying by. People keep telling me to hold you and enjoy my little bundle before you get too old for that mushy stuff. About a week or so ago, you discovered "dancing". You bop up and down to a good beat and you get a big smile on your face. It's pretty fun for your Dad and I. You also like to scrunch your face up and breath in and out of your nose really fast (not sure what that is about....but it makes me laugh). We also get stopped a lot for people to comment on your hair. You have lots of it. It was dark brown when you were born but it is turning platinum blonde. It is two toned right now and I love it. You also love climbing things, although it scares me! You scale the stools, the couch, and the bathroom organizer over the toilet. Speaking of toilets....you also like to crawl as fast as you can to the bathroom and smile at me while I am trying to use the bathroom! Then when I am trying to wash my hands you go over and try and flush the toilet or play with the toilet paper. You are a pretty smart girly. You like to stand up and be walked around. You try walking around by holding onto things but you aren't there yet, so there are lots of head bonks. You began crawling at 5 1/2 months. You just like to always be moving. Bath time is difficult because you try and stand up or jump around and it is slippery. It goes much smoother with your Dad and I doing it together. But it's still hard! I am hoping your next sibling won't be able to even lift his/her head for 6 months ;) You got to talk to Grandpa and Grandma Dennis today over Skype. It was more screaming on your end. They live in Virginia. We also used Tango to call Mimi. Your grandparents like to see your new tricks. We are sad we live so far away from both families. Your Dad has 4 semesters left of school. I am super excited about that! I am also very proud of him. I am working almost 30 hours a week to help out while he finishes. I thought I would always want to work after graduation, to have "something" for myself. But now that I have you, all I want to do is be home with you....even when you are crying and driving me crazy! I love watching you grow and develop. Nothing is more exciting to a mom then to see your baby roll over, begin crawling, try to clap their hands, say "mama" or "bababa" (which are the things you love to chat about right now). You still suck at sleeping though! HA! I even took your crib apart and rebuilt it in our room. You have pretty much been sleeping with us since you were born. We didn't mean to do that. I have been trying to get you to sleep on your own in your crib that you think is so horrid. You are making some progress. But secretly, I do enjoy snuggling you at night. You wrap your arm around my neck, throw your tiny leg up on my hip, and smash your face against mine. But I do need some snuggle time with your Dad once in a while. I do need to show him I still love him too :) I love your Dad. He makes my heart happy. I love you and I hope as you grow up that you will always hear that from us, and even better yet, I hope we show it to you.
Love you,
Your Momma
P.S. here are just a couple of my recent phone pictures
This was after I put the crib back together in our room....it isn't so scary after all!

This is from your Aunt Brittany Ririe. It's a onsie that says "I'm Sexy and I know It". It's from a popular song right now. But I would never let you wear this in public....I would probably get a stare down from other moms!
But that wiggle wiggle bum of yours is so tiny and cute!
