Birthday Letter

Dear Ruby Girl
Well I was shooting for one letter a year, but I figured I need to do a least a birthday letter. I cannot believe I have a one year old! Time flew by and it has been the most challenging and rewarding year of my life!

Let's see....you have 4 teeth! Two on top and two on bottom. You are always chewing on things, luckily you haven't started biting people yet! I took you to my doctors appointment the other day and you were running around putting everything and anything into your mouth. You even went over to the doctors lap top and opened your mouth wide and inched closer to it like it was a tasty treat. I stopped you before it happened though. Speaking of running...you started walking around 10 months or so. You are a super clumsy kiddo and I swear you aim for every corner in our apartment. Your Aunt Kjirsten was calling you Miss Tumble Bumbles. Your cousin Kenz was the same way. Your Daddy and I will chase you around and you try and walk/run as fast as your little legs will carry you. You love it and just laugh and laugh. Your favorite toys are "Kitty" and "Ducky". Kitty was from your great grandma Ruby and Ducky was from Uncle Zach and Aunt Lizzy. You say kitty, although it sounds more like "titty". You are eating more like a toddler now. You LOVE string cheese, berries, gold fish crackers, pasta, toast, and veggies. I opened the fridge yesterday and you went over to it on your tip toes, reached in and grabbed the blueberries and string cheese. But you are also becoming picky and will eat only when you feel like it. You love other kids. You get excited when you see them and start babbling away. You are not very good at sharing yet. Still working on that. You wave to people. You also love giving kisses. Yesterday I was jealous of Daddy because I think you gave him 10 kisses in a row and then rejected me! You are becoming a Daddy's girl. But when I come home from work you get the biggest smile on your face and run over to me to be picked up. My favorite thing is when I hold you, you pat my back. Melts my heart. You also like to "talk on the phone". I have an old phone you like to carry around with it up to your ear. It's usually Ducky who calls saying you left him at home again. You and Daddy have dance time when I am at work. You are working on your sweet white girl moves. Sleeping is better, but no where near perfect. You actually are on a pretty good schedule that you stick to for the most part. Right now your crib has the front off. It is pushed up against our bed. That way you can learn to sleep separate from us and have your own space, but you can still crawl over in the middle of the night. So far it is working out well. You still love to snuggle and so do I. Your one year stats are 30.25 inches (90th percentile), 18 pounds and 7 ounces (20th percentile), and head is 5th percentile. Tall and skinny with a tiny head! Ruby you make us so happy and we can't imagine what our family would be like without you. We love you. Happy Birthday.

Love,
Mom and Dad
